New Holland Brewing Co. | Taylor Remy
Our man Taylor Remy hit his very first Beaver Island Music Festival and tells his awesome story here:
“It’s a 15 minute drive out,” says Bill McDonough. “You aren’t going to want to ride your bikes out there. Let me make a call real quick.”
I’ve only been on the island a few short hours, and already I’ve managed to find myself at the mercy of the local populace’s hospitality. Lucky for me, there is a never-ending supply of charity, willingly given.
Within minutes Bill’s daughter pulls up in a minivan, only all the benches have been removed and are replaced with a large mattress and a dozen overstuffed pillows. “Hop in, I don’t want to miss the first band!” she calls out of the window.
As we prep our gear for Great Taste of the Midwest - we kinda thought you should know where we can hang out together. So here's our schedule of events and the beer we'll be bringing along! See you in Wisconsin!
Thursday Aug. 7th - Milwaukee Pre-GTMW Party at the Sugar Maple
6:00pm - 11:30pm
DJ Joel will be spinnin' tunes starting at 8pm. New Holland, Central Waters, Surly, Indeed, Perennial, and Toppling Goliath breweries will all be there with special brews. We'll kick off at 6pm. New Holland will have a special keg of Coffee Dragon's Milk on tap!
The Great Taste of the Midwest is, to our knowledge, the second longest-running craft beer festival in North America.
Every year over one hundred fifty breweries and brewpubs serve about 1000 different beers in a beautiful lakeside setting in Madison, Wisconsin. With a view of the state capitol, great local food vendors, and acoustic music throughout the park, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to explore the finest beers the Midwest has to offer .

We're excited to introduce our new sous chef, Brian Proctor to the kitchen! I was able to take a minute to chat with Brian in between shifts and have gleaned a little about the man behind the apron...
EH: So, Brian - great to have you at New Holland. Can you tell us a little bit about your position?
BP: Well, I am the Sous Chef, which translates to under chef. I am second in command. I am responsible for features and help with menu creation, along with management duties.
EH: So, how did you land at New Holland? What's your background?
BP: I left Reserve Wine & Food in the spring to take on my next challenge. After looking around for a couple months, I decided New Holland was the right fit. I was the Sous Chef at Reserve and had the privilege to work with Matt Millar there and was there for his back-to-back James Beard semi-finalist nominations.
