Title QA/QC Manager

This position will be responsible to ensure and promote that the highest level of product quality is consistently achieved within the NHBC production facilities.  Further, a successful applicant will demonstrate experience in determining the overall quality strategy and implementation of roadmaps achieve the overall quality goals for the company.  This role has the responsibility of making sure that we operate within compliance of all local, federal and industry regulations including the FDA and TTB.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a leader in the organization, we will look to you to proactively prepare clear explanatory documents for review with the appropriate individuals.  Further, the analysis and preparation of data and charts is critical.  Ensuring that test and procedures are properly understood and performed are a daily necessity.  We are looking for the candidate who posses the ability to review the current procedures and improve upon them or identify new standards or technology which can be implemented to improve quality, cost or timing.  The candidate will have the responsibility to oversee the taste panel and assist in educating team members in flavor evaluation skills.  This role will have the responsibility as the lead champion for quality as well as to assure NHBC operates within the guidelines and methods and that product quality is not compromised.

Qualifications

Our ideal applicant should posses a minimum of 5 years of experience (including management / supervisory level) in the brewing, beverage or food manufacturing industry.  A sciences degree ideally in microbiology, organic chemistry, biology, food science or brewing is required.  A comprehensive understanding of the basic principles common in brewing is mandatory (home brewing experience is a plus).  The working knowledge of process controls for manufacturing and statistical process control, including Six Sigma are expected.  Additionally, strong organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills are essential.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a willingness to be an integral team member, have the ability to work in a fast paced environment, stand or sit for extended periods of time and work in excessive temperatures for extended periods of time in a wet and loud production environment with chemicals of varying composition.  This position requires lifting and coordination sufficient to inspect individual bottles and move cases of product.

  • Perform or coordinate all aspects of the artistic process
  • Graphic Design: 
    • Implement design work for various departments, as requested.
    • May include package design, ads/flyers, website development and/or brand creation.
  • Production: 
    • Oversee quotes, specs and proofs with vendors related to graphic reproduction in print or on the web.
    • Manage in-house projects that may include photography, audio/video development or other published work.
  • Communication: 
    • Oversee & coordinate company’s communication channels, including intra-company and public relations.
    • May assist and/or develop content, but is primarily responsible for developing strong channels and training teams to use them effectively.
Qualifications

Skill Sets and Requirements:

  • Proficient to excellent computer knowledge of and experience with desktop publishing, creative design suites and print processes

  • Understand completely all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs.
  • Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times.
  • Ensure that all food products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
  • Ensure that all beer, spirits and wine are prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, mixing and serving standards.
  • Achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility and sanitation and cleanliness through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment.
  • Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with restaurant policies and procedures.
  • Make employment and termination decisions consistent with Assistant General Manager guidelines for approval or review.
  • Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
  • Continually strive to develop your staff in all areas of managerial and professional development.

  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests.
  • Attend weekly manager meetings and actively participate.
  • Provide advice and suggestions to Assistant General Manager/ General Manager as needed.
Qualifications
  • Be 21 years of age.
  • Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the restaurant’s trading area.
  • Have knowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least three years of front-of-the-house operations and/or assistant management positions.
  • Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register or POS system.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain Cicerone certification and Serve Safe/ TIPS Certified Trainer accreditation.
  • Part-time position is 20 to 25 hours per week.
  • Full-time position is 40 hours per week.
  • Must be able to work weekends.

    • Hot liquor tanks
    • Mash
    • Lauter
    • Boil
    • Whirlpool
    • Heat exchanger
  • Must have an operational understanding of our filtration systems:
    • DE
    • Plate and Frame
    • Cartridge
  • Must have an operational understanding of brewing and packaging theory.
  • Must be able to work cellar and packaging line as needed.
  • General maintenance, cleaning and organization of:
    • Hoses
    • Equipment (pumps, brewhouse, filter, etc.)
    • Physical space (including walls, ceiling and floor)
    • Knowledge of chemical use and storage
Qualifications
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 50# from the floor to over their head repeatedly.
  • Must be able to work in environments of extreme heat or cold.
  • Must have basic computer skills (Excel, Word, etc…).
  • Must have basic mechanical ability.
  • Must have the ability to work within confined spaces when required.
  • Must be able to work any shift including weekends when called upon.
