This unique anniversary libation, heritage-blended from our library of barrel-soured beers, exhibits deeply layered flavors of malt and oak, with a tart finish.
Pairings: wild game,poultry & charcuterie.
You can look up a retail store near you, though we recommend calling first to make sure the have the brand you are looking for currently in stock. Another option is to contact the distributor nearest you and ask when they expect another shipment. Blue Sunday is an anniversary ale and comes out in January, so it’s possible that retailers may be out of stock until the next season. Hope that helps!! Thanks for drinking NHB!!! Have a great holiday weekend!
They are having an event at Ashley’s in Westland that will feature this beer coming up on January 9th 2013! They will be doing a tap take over with lots of NH brew!
Hello, from St. Louis Park, Minnesota! Blue Sunday is perhaps my favorite beer of all time. I was just lucky enough to find two bottles of the 2012 in the fridge at my local MGM liquor store. I’ve been looking all over, but never thought to check out the mega store.
Anyway, when should I drink this fine beverage? Should I let age for a bit, or should it be consumed immediately?
Greetings to you in Minnesota! Thank you for your comment!
I spoke with our head brewer about your question; this is his advice, “We stabilize Blue Sunday with sterile filtration so you wouldn’t get any continued complexity from any sour bugs. The beer will more than likely change flavor a bit with age maybe for better, maybe for worse. Personally I would drink them fairly soon (within a year). Though it maybe fun to see if it ages well, I wouldn’t risk it. The beer is ripe when we bottle it.”
Hope this helps and that you continue to be able to find Blue Sunday in your area. Cheers!
Any suggestions on where to find Blue Sunday in the Washington DC area? My local beer store carries Envious, Mad Hatter, Dragons Milk, and others, but I’ve never seen this. Love sour beers and would really love to try this!
Well, if you love sours – Blue Sunday is a definite must try.
It’s going to be a little tougher to find right now, as it’s a smaller run brew that releases in January. I’m going to include a link to our Beer & Spirits Finder – you just have to input your zip and the brand to locate (although a quick search by me didn’t turn up much):
Our one online distributor is out of stock, so I can’t direct you there (although in the future, it’s http://www.bruisin-ales.com and they’re great for those tough to find brands)
Wish I could help more! January is definitely the time to keep an eye out for Blue Sunday next year!
