Where can I buy this beer?
ABSOLUTELY one of the best beers I have ever tasted! I had my first couple of bottles of this elegant brew last spring but since then it has become very hard to find here in my area of Ohio. I hope to see more specialty beer stores in the area carry New Holland beers. “Dragon’s Milk” truely is Michigan’s finest beer! I can’t wait to visit your brew pub and I hope there is a decent hotel within crawling distance! Thanks for all your hard work on this beer.
Definitely make the trip to New Holland! Stay at City Flats Hotel, about a half a block away. Make a side trip (on your way home? or on the way there? to Founders in Grand Rapids. Michigan has a great area of terrific brewers….and only a few hours from Ohio! (I, too, live in Ohio, but have family in Holland!)
Purchase at “The Party Source” @ 95 Riviera Dr. Bellevue,Ky 41073
Also at Jungle Jim’s Fairfield Ohio…
Thank you for this, I just tried this beer at Brewhaha, and fell in love with it after the first sip. I dont know why I didnt think of going to The Party Source or Jungle Jims. Cheers!!
Just saying if you live in Columbus the only bar I’ve ever found that has sold it is Skully’s. The first time I had it was there I was very very surprised especially with it being a dark ale brewed close to Ohio, it is definitely worth the 7 dollar price tag.
Matt the Millers in Grandview also carries Dragon’s Milk.
Most Giant Eagle’s carry it in their walk in beer fridges, Fourth street bar and grill carries it in a 4 pack
It is available at the Anderson’s off of Sawmill Road. Also is served at Natalies Coal Fired Pizza on High Street just south of Worthington.
I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the land of cheese and beer. We have a bar “Uncle Mikes” with over 400 different beers. Dragons Milk is the best beer I have ever tasted. It’s what I ask for in my Christmas stocking. Excellent with a thick juicy ribeye steak and Portabella mushrooms. Drink the 4 pak and you’ll be breathin fire right along with the big Dragons.
Best. Christmas. Stocking. Gift. Ever.
You’re a genius! A genius with really great taste.
But seriously…so glad you’re enjoying the Dragon’s Milk!
Cheers!
Emily, NHBC
Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield has it all the time. Not sure where you’re at, but if you’re in the Cincinnati/Dayton area it’s worth the trip.
They often have it at Binny’s if you are in the Chicago area. My wife came home with three bottles the other night. God bless that woman. Try it, it is excellent.
Jeff, you obviously enjoy Bud Lite, your on the wrong website dude.
That was harsh… wouldn’t you say?
No, I’d say it was right on.
I got mine at WINE COUNTRY Discount Liquors in New Jersey
Wow!!!! Had this beer for the first time last weekend in OWOSSO MI on tap at the WROUGHT IRON GRILL all I can say is YUM…..especially if you are a bourbon/Scotch drinker
Hi, Sam.
Thanks for the kind words, our brewer’s will be happy to hear you enjoyed your first taste of Dragon’s Milk. Keep drinking it…we’ll keep making more. Cheers!
AJ’s OneStop on the Corner of Felch and 120th ave. Holland MI
We’ve got it at Big Red Liquors in Bloomington, IN, home of the men’s basketball #1 nationally ranked Indiana Hoosiers!

Elks club In Manistique MI
@ Gary London – you can use the Product Finder (http://newhollandbrew.com/finder) to find a local store which carries our beer. Then – if they don’t have it in stock – they may very well order it for you.
One of the best beers I`ve had.How long can I store Dragon`s milk,if not long why not put a cork in the bottle so I can?
I live in Philadelphia and just had this beer a week or two ago. My top five beers were knocked down a peg before I had finished the first sip.. But the bar owner is now saying he doesnt know when he will get it again and I cant find it! I only got to have one bottle of the best beer I have ever had and its breaking my heart.. Please help me!! I used the product finder but it only had results in and around michigan
Whole Foods Market?
It doesn’t get any better than this. First tried from a tap in 2009 and was hooked. Been searching ever since for something as good (or better) to no avail. So beautifully balanced I feel honored to drink it. Recommend savoring from a snifter and enjoy it like you would a fine cognac. It’s that good.
I just found Dragon’s Milk today here in NC – this has to be the most amazing beer I have ever had the honor to drink – being an avid homebrewer & craft-beer connoisseur I found the vanilla and hint of oak with the dark roasted malt flavor to blend so beautiful, it almost brought a tear to my eye =) Any chance of sharing the recipe????
Regardless, you keep brewing it, I will keep drinking it!
Will this particular ale make its way as far south as Houston? I am a huge fan of darker ales, and this sounds fantastic and exactly what I like.
I agree with these comments. I first had this HUGE beer back in October in NC. All that I could do was say “Wow”! You will savor every sip, but be careful, the bartender (ette) told me that she had seen it take down many a strong man, and I could certainly believe her.
ENJOY!
This is my very favorite beer I’ve had. It’s a great sipping beer; one that is meant to enjoy throughout a whole meal, as opposed to chugging, one after another, like cheap piss-water that most people drink. This is a beer for people who appreciate quality and craftsmanship, and like to take their time. Perfectly dark, with just the right balance of bitter and sweet, with a rich woodsy flavor. Beautiful.
just had my first taste of Dragon’s Milk. Interesting flavor. Has a spicy after-flavor. I like it.
I live in New York City any way to buy it here
I first tried dragons milk when I was 21, my untrained palate couldn’t relies it’s beauty and deep flavor. Now at 26 I feel like I’ve missed out on 5 years of an unbelievable brew.
Wow! this stuff is simply amazing. Can somebody tell me how i can get some of this stuff shipped to me i live in texas, i tried “Dragon’s Milk” for the first time in Pittsburgh PA at a place where my buddy was bartending. I’ve tried various milk stouts but nothing has even come close to the quality of this “Dragon’s Milk”.
We do not currently distribute to Texas, however, you may want to check here: http://www.binnys.com
Love this stuff. I’m looking for a keg of this for a wedding. Anybody know where in Michigan kegs are available?
Merchants in Dearborn gets kegs of it.
Had some Dragon’s Milk on a trip to Indianapolis…
any chance you distribute to New York?
Rochester Beers of the World carries about 1500 brands, but I haven’t seen New Holland there. I’d love to be able to buy Dragon’s Milk here!
Hi Scott! We do not yet distribute to New York. The closest distributors are Hunterdon Brewing Co., 908-454-7445 in New Jersey, Shangy’s, 610-967-1701 in Pennsylvania, and Tony Savatt, 412-331-1222 in Pennsylvania. They may be able to send Dragons Milk to you, but by law we can not ship beer (this is for all states). We have to use the 3 tier system – we ship to distributor, distributor sends to retailer, retailer sells to customer. Although, some distributors may have the right permits to be able to send some your way! Thanks for drinking New Holland!!
What about distributors in the New England area? I have family in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass, and they love your stuff.
Hi, Nate.
Thanks for your support of New Holland. Unfortunately, we are not yet distributed in Massachusetts. It looks like the closest area of distribution at this point is in the New York area. You can find that information via our beer/spirits finder online http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/
Another idea is to find a national distributor that ships nationwide. One place to start is Binny’s (http://www.binnys.com/) out of the Chicago area. They often ship many products anywhere in the US, but it’s always best to speak with them before placing an order to make sure that they ship the product you’re looking for to your location.
I hope this helps. Cheers!
Found this beer quite by accident at the local store, it is fantastic!
Cheers, Brian!
How do I get more Dragon’s Milk! I reside in Gulfport MS, Baton Rouge LA and Tampa FL. I havent found it since leaving Detroit, can I have it shipped to my office?
Hi Sheree! We do not distribute to any of those states, yet. The closest state is South Carolina. You could call Carolina Craft at: 803-419-4441, they may be able to send Dragons Milk to you. (Some distributors may be able to ship to a house or office, if they have the right permits.) By law we can not ship beer (this is for all states). We have to use a “3 tier system” – we ship to distributor, distributor sends to retailer, retailer sells to customer. Hope that helps! Thanks for drinking New Holland!
I discovered this beer in st louis MO but living in the eastern side of michigan , namely Flint I found this incredible beer impossible to find.
Please Help!!!
Discovered DM while doing a beer flight at a restaurant in E. Grand Rapids and I’ve been in love ever since. Have tried many other microbrews since, but none even come close to the quality and complexity of New Holland in general and Dragon’s Milk in particular. It tastes like a boilermaker with a shot of Jack in the best oaky vanilla malty smooth beer on the planet!
Thanks for the compliment, Teresa! Cheers!
we found this beer b y accident last year,LOVE IT. We are on our way to Holland this Sat for dinner and brew. Can’t wait to try it on tap. See you soon. from Three Rivers MI
That is great! How was your stay in Holland? Dinner at the pub?
This is my absolute favorite beer and after 2 years I have found a liquor store that carries it! Can’t wait to drink on!
Cheers, Rachel!!
Would like to know what the suggested retail price for Dragon’s Milk is. I live in Indiana and it seems that prices vary when you can find the product. Thank you for your help.
The Whole Foods on Lincoln here in Chicago was carrying Dragon’s Milk and then POOF! Instead (or in addition) they had the Charkoota Rye which is nice but NOTHING in comparison.
Seriously, either let me order these things to my door or get them back! Me needs me Dragon Milk! (which is all a great compliment since this beer is fantastic)
Hi Kristin! Our distributor for the Chicago Area is Louis Glunz (847-676-9500) they will be able to tell you what stores in your area carry Dragon’s Milk. Due to a high demand for this beer, we are now making bigger batches and hope to be able to keep it on the shelves little longer this way! Thanks for drinking New Holland!
I tried this beer after my favorite was out of season(Sanders chocalate stoute). This is my favorite now!!! It is so smooth with flavor. GREAT brew
Thanks for drinking New Holland!
pls send more of this beer to WI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you make some incredible beer!
Joe- thank you for your kind words! You can check with our WI distributor, Beechwood Sales and Service (262-717-2831), they will be able to tell you where you can find our beer in WI or if they can send you some!
I tried this beer in VA @ Rustico rest. with the me arranging a night of strict Dragon’s Milk night with cigars before heading overseas to Japan. This is one hell of a great beer, strength is perfect, flavor is plentiful, and color is pure.
Lindey
would Dragon’s Milk be distributed in Japan or is it strictly USA? Thanks for keeping this ale alive.
Dragons Milk is available in 28139 Rutherfordton NC
Sons of Liberty bar downtown main st. 4p-1a Wed – Sat
Dragons Milk is on TAP there.. i meant to say
Sons of Liberty on FaceBook
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sons-of-Liberty-Tavern/110172879053267
This beer is my one of two of my overall favorite beers I have ever had. My second favorite beer being Founders “Dirty Bastard”.
The smell of this beer is sweet and indulgent with hints of oak and vanilla, or even chocolate and coffee at times. The taste is similar to the smell and very pleasantly sweet for a stout.
It is great cold or warm, producing different smells and tastes depending on how cold or warm it is. Although it’s easier to drink the colder it is, drinking it warm is a whole other experience in of itself, which I highly suggest trying.
I will continue to purchase Dragons Milk as long as New Holland Brew continues producing it.
As for anyone who can’t find it where you live, if you have a grocery store named Meijer they have it in the 1 pint 6 ounce bottles in the specialty/local/independent beer section of the store.
It should have been called Magic Dragon’s Milk, because drinking Dragon’s Milk is like frolicking in the mist in the land called Honalee.
Hahahaha! I used to LOVE that movie when I was a kid… cheers!
I had a sample of this last week when I was in Grand Rapids at a pub that did beer flights. AMAZING! I likes my beer. I lived in England, and hit virtually every pub I can find that serves authentic beers and ales across the country. This is my favorite. I found some at a store the next day and found out that New Holland is pretty proud of this beer! But it is worth the price. I am calling Dragons Milk the “18-year-old-single-malt-scotch-of-beers”.
Thanks for the kind words, Steve! Cheers!
I had Dragon’s Milk Ale [draught] at the Farmhouse in Emmaus PA and cannot stop thinking about it. Don’t know when I’ve had a finer beer. I’m from Michigan and the next time I’m home for a visit…. well, I’ll be thinking about coming for a visit!!!
Thanks for drinking New Holland, Margaret! Hope you can make it to the pub in Holland sometime. We also offer brewery and distillery tours on the weekends. Check here for more information! http://newhollandbrew.com/brew-house-distillery-tours/
I have been drinking Dragon’s Milk for years. I recently had it on tap, and found that it is even better than in the bottle. I live south of Detroit in Moroe County. I have a kegorator, and I would love to get a pig of Dragon’s Milk. What’s the best way to make this happen?
i’d like to order some of this….i live in johnstown pa zip code 15904.
please advise
This is by far my favorite brew, does anyone know where do you find something other than bottles; such as a cask or a growler?
Had a opportunity to try DM at the Milwaukee Firken Fest. By far the best beer, and there were over 100, on the grounds. Definately set the bar for the evening and no body else even came close!
I live in the Ann Arbor area and I’ve been looking around at all the different breweries sites to see where I’m going to spend this years birthday. After hearing about this product, I think I’m going to spend this year in Holland.
I absolutely love Dragon’s Milk. It is the best that I have found! I would like to stock up some of it. My questions is, how long can one stock this beer! And, when is it released each year.
Thanks for the great brew.
Dan
You think that’s good? Try the night tripper!
OK I love this Ale. But is it an American Stout or American Strong Ale. I have seen it classified as both.
Hi Todd!
Dragon’s Milk Ale is a “Strong Ale.”
Cheers!
NHBC
Finally found it here in Springfield, MO at Momma Jeans!! Please keep it coming!
Thank you for creating this.
Glad you like it! Thanks for drinking NHB
Can I purchase this beer in Australia? If I can, can you please tell me where?
incredible beer! God Bless you folks
This in on tap at Lockharts BBQ in Royal Oak Michigan. That is some amazing beer!
http://www.lockhartsbbq.com/
This is on tap at Oceans & Ale in Williamsburg, Virginia.
I have never had a more enjoyable beer. I tend to flock towards Belgium Quads and Imperial Stouts, and this beer, over all of the others I enjoy, takes the cake. This is a perfect winter warmer, but is also a wonderful fall brew. I have had several vintages of this beer, and have never had a bad bottle. I prefer the 22oz bottles as I think it ages a little better, but this beer is something very special. The oaky notes play so well with the carmel, vanilla and coffee/chocolate overtones. Thanks to the master brewers at New Holland. You are all very gifted!
this stuff is like a dream come true ;;;; its a head -over heels; non-stop kick ass beer
I just turned 21 in August, and I never really enjoyed beer until my first Dragon’s Milk at New Holland Brewery. Thanks to all of you for changing my mind.
I had dragons milk last week for the first time, then last night for the second tasting of 2 pints wow,,,,I have been home brewing for 3 years and I have a clone from the 250 classic styles magazine,,can you provide any more info on this beer it has 6.6 briess LME which I am going to convert to US 2 row briess which I am using BeerSmith, I am wonder if I should do a 10 mash rest at 168, at the end of the 60 min rest at 154, also if their is any other info would be usefull , what category does this beer fall in imperial or other ?
Thanks for all the help and I will soon be trying it again .
I always like to brew the beers that I like find to be some of my personal favorites CHEERS to NewHolland for their great craftsmanship in brewing top notch
Thanks so much, John! I will let the brewer’s know
I have this beer on draft at the bar I work at, Big City Tap. The bar is located in Lakeview area of Chicago, IL. Every Tuesday and Wednesday you can get draft beer for $2.50, including N/H Dragon’s Milk.
We are located at 1010 W. Belmont. Stop grab and grab a goblet of some great Dragon’s Milk.
Cheers,
Chad
Cheers, Chad!
I picked up a 22oz bottle last week on a whim and drank it last night. Best surprise I’ve had in a beer in a long time. If I can find it locally in 12oz bottles this might make it into my regular rotation of go to beers. It’s like a dessert beer akin to the really rich chocolate cake from Costco. Anyway I got my bottle of it at the Wegmans in Sterling, VA.
Also I’ve had Dominion’s Oak Barrel Stout and it’s nasty. They have way too much vanilla in it. Luckily I had put that out of my mind or I might have missed out on this wonderful beer.
Thanks for your comment, Keith!
Are there any stores that sell it in Rochester Mi? I first tried it in Chicago and Love it!
Hi Alicia!
You can check out our Beer and Spirits Finder: http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/
Click the link for “Michigan Distributors” link and call the one closest to your area and see what retailers carry Dragon’s Milk. Although our Finder will be able to tell you who carries our products, we recommend calling the store first, to confirm they are not out of stock and that they carry the brand you are looking for.
Happy Holidays!!!

This was proclaimed the Holy Beer of 2011 by GroovyBrew.com
This is my new favorite beer. This beer is great.
This is a most sublime brew. My brother introduced it to me on vacation this summer. I was pleasantly surprised to find that some local beer distributors carry it here in Pennsylvania. However, this being PA with its archaic laws it’s necessary to purchase a case at a time – the cost makes that an infrequent purchase. Now that some stores (e.g. Wegman’s) are actually allowed to sell beer I hope to see this awesome beer there for purchase in smaller quantities.
Is there a way to order this beer to the Netherlands?
Kind regards, David
Hi David!
Legally, we can not ship our beer. However, You could try contacting Binny’s:
http://www.binnys.com/index.cfm
They are able to ship and they do carry our beer!
Had Dragon’s Milk for the first time last night and all I can say is simply amazing. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your kind words, Jeff!
Cheers,

Thanks for drinking NHB!
I only had the joy of having this beer once and have not been able to find it since!
Do you have any distributors in Southern NJ or Philadelphia? I’m dying to have more of this!!
Hi Jamie,
You can check our distributor list to see what distributors we work with in your area to distribute beer and/or spirits to retailers. Although our Finder will be able to tell you who carries our products, we recommend calling the store first, to confirm they are not out of stock and that they carry the brand you are looking for. Thank you!!
manna from the gods…two 4 packs down and third on ice…
I had Dragon’s Milk for the first time nd was blown way by the complexity and depth. I now know who the brew masters of Michingan are…
That’s fantastic! Thanks for your support, Robert!
Was a meeting in Columbia and we dropped off at the Flying Saucer for a drink afterwards. I had a glass of Dragon’s Milk and was just amazed. It was rich, and ooh so smooth. Great job on a fabulous brew.
Thanks for the compliments, Bob!
Tastes like cough syrup mixed with coffee
Had Dragons Milk for the first time this weekend at the restaurant Element in Front Royal VA. The meal and the beer was the best I have ever had! BEST EVER! Dragon’s milk is indescribably the best beer (or drink for that matter) that I have ever had! Hope to find out tomorrow if a local distributer sells to individual customers or at least who they sell to in the area. After having a Dragons milk with dinner, later that night at home I had a Guinness and I couldn’t drink it, was to bitter after the silky dragons milk. I can’t imagine anyone who enjoys a dark beer not falling in love with this… but for those like Dan I want to thank you for leaving more for the rest of us!
New Holland Brewing Company – Thank you for brewing heaven in a bottle!
Well said, thanks for the compliments, Teresa!
I’m beginning to feel guilty for living in Chicago and having access to DM via local grocery stores! By far, my favorite for 3 years running. I still try lots of dark ales, but nothing has ever topped Dragon’s Milk. Can’t wait to swing by the brewery this summer. Bless your brew master!
hahaha! Thanks for your kind words, Todd! I will let our brewers know
I have a subscription to draft magazine and this so called dragon milk was in one issue and the name stuck with me along with reading the great reviews. I was in a store that i shop frequently called total wine and i came across it and i got the last bottle in the store well worth the seven dollars spent. enjoying now after a crazy day at work. wow it does not taste like a 10% beer very smooth lots and lots of flavor unlike delirium tremons or corsendonk guiness boddingtons those beers i like but you guys put them to shame. Can not wait to taste more beers from new Holland thanks your new friend STEVE.
Hi Steve!!
Thanks so much for the compliments! I will pass your kind words along to the brewers that make Dragon’s Milk available for you to enjoy. Thanks for supporting NHB!
Cheers
We’re Having A Dragon’s Milk Party at The Wine Tap in Belleville Illinois on April 25th! Please post us on your events page. We can’t wait!

Hi Allison!!
I would be happy to add your event to our event listing! Thanks for supporting NHB!
I have yet to find a better bottle of beer. Absolutely incredible! Price is a little high, but worth every cent!
Thanks Scott!
Went out to eat at a newer restaurant . Asked the bartender to pick a stout for me. She described it and after first taste was sold. Wow, and it was on draft. Now to find a local retailer who sells it (East side of state in Waterford in Oakland County anyone?). A little annoyed at my GR friends and family. How could they not have told me about this sooner?
Glad you liked it, Jamie!! Thanks for your comment.
It was live at first taste…I just got some Dragon’s Milk brought to me from Mi, I live in Denver and had it for the first time while visiting hometown of Traverse City last year. When will it be available in CO?

I tried Dragon’s Milk after hearing about it and was hooked! Nothing else comes close. And you’re right: It does pair well with beef, smoked meats, and other hearty dishes.
I recommended it to one of my favorite restaurant/pubs in Northwest MI, namely The Cabbage Shed in Elberta MI. They said they would look into it, so hopefully you will soon have a presence up there as well.
Thanks for supporting NHB, Bill!
Where can I buy this in Washington DC?
Hi Jared!
Hi Kevin!
Here is a link to our beer and spirits finder:
http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/
You can look up a retail store near you, though we recommend calling first to make sure the have the brand you are looking for currently in stock. Another option is to contact the distributor nearest you and ask when they expect another shipment. Hope that helps!! Thanks for drinking NHB!!!
this is a one of a kind beer, “Dragon’s Milk” Well worth the try and effort. I found the taste to be amazing, lovely after dinner drink too.
My Hats Off to New Holland Brewing: “Dragon’s Milk” Warning you may want to taste more than one mug of this brew ….
Awesome, thanks Greg!!
I tried this beer at Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh while on vacation ( native to California ). The restaurant is well known in the area for importing beers and an amazing food selection to pair with them. Now that I’ve returned home I cannot describe how said I am that I cannot find this brew locally. Its flavor is amazing, I think it is my favorite beer (and I’ve tried many amazing dark beers). The finder has nothing within 100 miles of southern California, so I’ll have to keep on searching- can’t wait to have it again!
Thank you for brewing it, here’s praying I can get my hands on some more.
Hi, Manuel!
The good news is you can say you’ve tried Dragon’s Milk. We are so happy you love it. We do too, although we’re partial. The bad news is you’re right, we’re not yet in Cali.
We would recommend checking some larger beer/wine/spirits distributors, as often they ship their products nationally. One to check with is Binny’s in Chicago. There may be others closer to you, but that would be a start.
Best of luck and if you are back in Dragon’s Milk country again, we hope you enjoy another glass. Thanks again for supporting New Holland Brewing Co.
Cheers!
This stuff is great but will it improve with age if I store some for a year or two? If I can manage not to drink it all before then lol
Hello Annonymus.
Dragon’s Milk relies entirely upon malt flavors and barrel aging to taste the way it does. That means that odds are in its favor that it will age well. Like any beer, there are a variety of factors that will influence how well that will happen and there is no guarantee that the results of aging will be positive. Having said that, it is a beer that is probably worth taking a chance on and laying some down to see what happens. Cheers!
Do you use fresh oak or used bourbon barrels for aging?
Hi, Jhon. Thanks for the great question.
We use a blend of first-use bourbon barrels (directly from the distillery) and second-use bourbon barrels (ones that we have already been used 1x in the brewery for Dragon’s Milk). The use of the “second use” barrel allows us to control the bourbon intensity and, frankly, suppress it a bit. We set out to be the “best” and, in our opinion, that means balance – the bourbon should lay back delicately and support the beer flavor.
I hope this helps and thanks for reaching out!
could you please tell me where Dragon’s Milk is available in 4 packs in Lake County Indiana
Hi, Andy. Thanks for your support of New Holland. It looks like you are in luck and there are many stores that carry Dragon’s Milk in your area. You can search by product and/or location type on our online beer/spirits finder http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/
Once you find a location near you, we always recommended calling them to confirm they have the item in stock, but the finder is updated often and should be correct. I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to be in touch. Cheers!
Had this beer at NH Brewery and was dumbfounded by how good it is. I am so glad that the 2 nearest liquor stores to me on the south side of Indianapolis carry this exceptional beer. Keep up the good work. How much $$$ IS the half barrel anyway?
Hi, Tim.
Thank you for the kind words. Glad to hear you can get Dragon’s Milk in your area.
You would have to contact your local beer store/distributor to get pricing on a 1/2-barrel.
I can speak to the cost we sell them at our Pub in Holland, but not in other areas of the country.
Cheers!
The info says that this beer is available in half barrels. I only ever see it in stores in 4 packs or 22 oz. I live in Grand Rapids. If I drive to your location in Holland, can I buy a half barrel directly from you?
Hi, Micah.
We do have 1/2 barrels available through our Restaurant & Pub in Downtown Holland. It’s always best to call ahead and reserve one, so we have it ready for you. The Pub’s number is 616-355-6422.
You are also able to order them from your local beer store. You will need to place an order ahead of when you need as the 1/2 barrel will be delivered when their distributor comes – usually once a week.
I hope this helps! Cheers!
Megan
Can I purchase Dragon’s Milk in Iowa? Enjoyed a bottle from a retailer on Mackinac Island. Incredible!
Hi, Ben.
So glad to hear you enjoyed Dragon’s Milk. You may be in luck, specifically if you live on the east side of the state. You can find our products using our online product finder (http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/). You’re able to search by product and by location type. I searched within 100 miles of Davenport and came up with a couple of locations that carry/tap Dragon’s Milk.
It’s always best to call first, make sure they have it in stock before making the trip, but our finder is updated often so you should be in good shape.
Also, in case you do not live near one of these locations, often they ship products. If they have Dragon’s Milk in stock, you may be able to purchase and have it shipped directly to your home. Worth a call!
I hope this helps. Cheers!
Please tell me that you ship near Memphis, TN!!!!!!
Hi, Jose!
Glad to hear from you! Unfortunatly, we are not able to ship our products and do not currently distribute to Tennessee. That said, you may be in luck as we do distribute to your neighbor – Kentucky. You can contact our main distributor there, Bryant Distributing (www.bryantdistributing.com). They may be able to hook you up. Or, you can try a national distributors, such as Binny’s out of the Chicago area – they often ship their products. Worth a call to find out. Or, if you’re on a road trip through Kentucky, you can find where we’re located using our online product finder (http://newhollandbrew.com/finder). I hope this helps. Thanks for your support of NHBC! Cheers!
I can see there’s a vintage date on the bottle but is there a way to tell the exact date the beer I have was bottled?
Hi all,
Dragons Milk is one of my favorites, and if you are familiar with New Holland, you can count on Quality beers in every flavor under the sun.
I’m from Muskegon Michigan, and I must admit, I’m fortunate to be in this area as we have several Awesome Micro-breweries in the area that include, Founders as well as new Holland, The Hideout, HopCat, and about a dozen others. As you hear it from Larry Bell of bells brewery, ” It’s in the water.” Recently I became a brewer myself, and have much to thank for New Holland, Founders, and Bells for the awesome flavors that pushed me to do it myself.
Hopefully, New Holland (a personal favorite) will continue to grow and be able to distribute abroad, so that the whole country can experience the Michigan Brewery Impact.
Thanks, Ken! Always great to hear from a supporter. Can’t wait to try one of your beers soon! Cheers.
I used to live in Illinois and enjoy a bottle or two at the local pub. I now live in Texas and have no idea where to get this. I even tried to make a clone myself but it’s not exactly the same. Any idea where I can get this incentral Texas near Austin.?
Hi, Bill.
Thanks for your comment. As you know, we do not currently distribute near Texas. And, unfortunately, Texas does not allow direct alcohol shipments, so I cannot direct you to a national distributor. Bummer! Hope you’re able to visit Illinois again soon and stock up while there. Cheers!
Best beer I have had. Love the hint of oak to the flavor and the slight milky texture. I hope you guys are able to distribute this in Georgia soon.
Hi, Ken.
Thanks for the comment. Lucky for you, we launched our beer and spirits in the state of Georgia in September. Go demand New Holland at your local beer store!
Cheers!
Definitely the best beer I’ve ever had. Great balance of flavor and the oak adds an awesome dryness and complexity. Is it available in Nebraska? I was in St. Paul, MN this weekend and experienced this beer at The Happy Gnome, definitely a must stop when near the Twin Cities, what a great selection of unique beers.
Hi, Dalen.
Thanks for the comment! We are not currently distributing to Nebraska. However, you can try contacting Binny’s in the Chicago area as they are a national distributor (888-817-5898, ask for Joe Maloney). Cheers!
Where can I buy this beer in Asheville, NC? It is amazing. My boyfriend bought it from a pub in Rutherfordton, but we are in Asheville all of the time.
Hi, Stephanie.
It’s your lucky day. There is Dragon’s Milk all over the Ashville area. Check our our online product finder (http://newhollandbrew.com/finder) and search by product type. If you have any questions, let me know. Cheers!
OK. In VA on a business trip and I decide to try your Dragon’s Milk. WOW! what a combination of roast malt, sweetness, high alcohol, and oak character. I look forward in trying other brews of yours. Can you products be found in CO?
Glen
Hi, Glen.
Thanks for the kind words! I’ll pass them along to the brewers. We do not currently distribute to Colorado. However, you can try contacting Binny’s in the Chicago area as they are a national distributor (888-817-5898, ask for Joe Maloney). Cheers!
I don’t like beer…that was my story until yesterday. Most off the beer consumed here (St. Louis) is not dark (think Busch and Bud)…and I’ve never been able to drink more than a sip without retching. Several months ago a friend had me taste some different dark beers he was serving (maybe including something with a name like “Crankcase”). I didn’t retch. Last night out to dinner (Llwelyn’s Pub in St. Charles MO) with friends, I shocked them by asking the server for a “really dark” beer…not Guiness. She asked “her beer guy” and he sent me Dragon Milk. Awesome! Lots of great flavor and no meanness. It was served in a snifter and it was a perfect accompaniment to our salty pub pretzel appetizer and my great fish and chips dinner. As I’m not a “beer drinker” I can’t give a real flavor profile, but I did pick out a molasses flavor (which I love, anyway). Everything else will have to be measured against Dragon’s Milk!
Hi, Donna. Great story. We’re so happy to have you on board the Dragon’s Milk train. Cheers!
This beer is fantastic!
I don’t generally consider myself a beer drinker, but I enjoy a dark beer occasionally. I recently started buying a few different beers to see what was out there, and I’ve tried a number of beers in the last couple of months covering a spectrum of flavors. This past week, I had the Founder’s breakfast stout (nice flavors, not too bitter, pretty smooth, but a little thin), Magic Hat Heart of Darkness (nice, and very complex…almost too complex), Young’s Double Chocolate Stout (very delicous…more like dessert than a drink), and now Dragon’s Milk… I can confidently say that I’ve never had any beer come close to the sensations it brings. Smooth yet fiery, smoky and clear, sweet, salty and tangy, excellent body, and with every sip, warmth radiates out from the back of the throat as if it were a cognac. When I saw the price for a four-pack at Busch’s grocery store, I know I raised an eyebrow, but there is no buyer’s regret here. Let’s just say that I’ve never been compelled to write a review for a beer before, and that fact alone should speak for itself. Outstanding!
Aaron,
Thanks for the shout out and showing some love for Dragon’s Milk! Our brewers are insanely awesome and we’re proud that this stout is getting props.
Cheers and thanks for the note!
I tried New Holland Dragons Milk for the first time at a Charlotte,NC pub on Wednesday night. New Holland Brewery you have “SET THE BAR” by which all other Imperial Stouts will be judged! It’s so good it really needs it’s own category! Beyond the incredibly rich and smooth taste, Dragon’s Milk screams craftsmanship! I’ll be lifting my next glass as a salute to your wonderful brewing talent. Thank you!
Clint,
Thanks for the note. We’re super proud of Dragon’s Milk and how people are responding to it. Moments like these are when we know all the hard work is worth it! We’ll pass on the kudos to our production crew – they are the superheros behind the stout.
Cheers!
Where can I buy a Firkin
Paul,
Well, it depends on what you’d like a firkin of and where you are located. If you’re in the Holland, MI area – you can call our pub and place an order – 616-355-6422. If you’re out of the area and looking for a retailer, you can check out our beer locator and have someone nearby hook you up. Here’s a link: http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/
Hope this helps! Cheers!
What an incredible taste experience. All the goodness of bourbon combined with the finest of ales make this a drink to be savored and experienced. And it has an incredible kick. One 22 oz. bottle, and I’m feeling mellow and relaxed. Bravo! I’m glad I’m in Michigan where it’s readily available. If you like beer, and like to sip bourbon, I highly recommend it. If you think Bud or Miller are actually drinkable beers, you won’t be able to handle this. I throw down the gauntlet!
I am trying to find a dragons milk t-shirt. Are they available?
Hi Allen,
We have a few Dragon’s Milk T-shirts available online, both Mens and Womens. Here’s a quick link, to check them out! Lots of fun stuff at the store for the holidays too! PLUS! Free shipping on all online orders $50/over. Hope you find the perfect fit!

I recently discovered Dragons Milk at Blind Murphy Craft Beer Market in Alpharetta, GA. Its been pouring there a couple of times now and sells out rather quickly.
Honestly this beer is one of the best beers I’ve ever had.
It is like no other and quite simply AMAZING !! Keep it coming !!
Hi Skip!
Thanks so much for the message. First – we are so geeked to be in Georgia and are enjoying getting to know the people and places there.
And secondly – I had a similar experience the first time I tried Dragon’s Milk. Unlike anything I’d ever had. I tell you, it’s amazing with desserts!
We’ll keep it coming! And enjoy your Thanksgiving!
Cheers!
Emily
I tried this beer when I went out to visit a friend of mine in Michigan, is there any way I can get it back home in Seattle?
Hi Andrew,
Sadly, we don’t currently distribute out to Seattle. We do use a distributor for our spirits and we offer a bourbon that is aged in our Dragon’s Milk barrels. Nice little crossover. The distributor is http://www.binnys.com/all/beer%20barrel%20bourbon#/?page=1
Wish we could fill your fridge with Dragon’s Milk. We suppose relocated to Holland is out of the question…
Cheers!
Emily
Just picked up a 4 pack from Cellars in Woodbury…My word this is an awesome beer! I brew my own now adays so its rare that I went to the store to get some beer. This beer is so smooth and what a taste (and a kick!). Probably one of the finest beers i have tasted to date! Well done sirs!
Thanks for the props, Craig! I’ll pass your kind words on to our brewers – they make the magic happen.
Cheers!
Emily
To date, the best ale I have had, and I have tried a great many beers, ales, and porters. It has a very rich, dark flavor, and just enough alcohol to taste it. I paid 8.99 for a 22 oz and it was worth every penny. I bought mine at Arena Liquor on Hampton Ave. in St. Louis, and I just hope I can find it back home.
Sean,
Thanks for sending out the Dragon’s Milk love. It’s a special brew, that’s for sure. Glad to hear it found its way into your glass.
Not sure where “home” is, but here’s a link to our beer/spirits finder to help in your hunt – http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/
Cheers!
Emily
How do I get some of this in TEXAS???
Hi Raevyn!
Alas, we’re not distributing in Texas yet, which is a huge bummer. We do work with a spirits distributor who ships our spirits including our Beer Barrel Bourbon (bourbon aged in Dragon’s Milk barrels). It’s a nice beer-y twist on bourbon, if you are into that sort of thing. You can find it here: http://www.binnys.com/all/beer%20barrel%20bourbon#/?page=1
Sorry we can hook you up with some Dragon’s Milk pronto.
Cheers!
Emily
Had Dragon’s Milk for the first time about a month ago and I am in love with it. I found that a local Growler had it on tap, but they have since run out. I bought the last four bottles that our local place had left, so now I am on a quest to find more. In addition to the beer, I love the logo. Are you guys making t-shirts or hats with that on there?
Cheers,
Scott Baker
Hi Scott!
Dragon’s Milk is definitely a special brew. I especially love it this time of year!
Let me see if I can help you out…
First – here is our Beer & Spirits Finder link, so you can hawk Dragon’s Milk in your area:
http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/
Second – here’s a link to our online store, where you can definitely find some Dragon’s Milk gear:
http://store.newhollandbrew.com/search.php?search_query=dragon%27s+milk&x=0&y=0
I just bought the DM hoodie as a Christmas gift to myself. It’s super soft and I love the dragon on the hood.
Anyway, I hope this helps!
Cheers!
Emily
Thanks much Emily! I live in Hot Springs AR, and have yet to find it here. I am about to check out your beer finder though, maybe somewhere close has it! Thanks again.
Just used your beer finder, unfortunately I don’t think it is too accurate. I bought mine at Arena Liquor in St. Louis, and it isn’t on the list. According to your finder, nowhere in Arkansas has it. Hope that isn’t the case, and if it is, I hope it changes. I have been comparing every beer to this since I tasted it, and none have measured up yet. I find myself asking every liquor store I go to “GOT MILK?” LOL, they must think I am crazy!
Shoot, Sean.
Sadly, it’s true about Arkansas…for now anyway! If you like bourbon, we do have a distributor that ships and we have a nice one called Beer Barrel Bourbon that is bourbon aed in Dragon’s Milk barrels. It’s pretty awesome. You can look at Binnys.com for that.
Love the “Got Milk?”!! I’ll definitely be sharing that around the office!
Happy holidays!
Emily
Love this beer. It tops everything else I’ve tried. My hands down favorite!
It’s a beauty, isn’t it? Thanks for the shout out and happy new year!
Cheers,
Emily
I’m not overly fond of beer and I don’t drink much at all, but I gave Dragon’s Milk a go a couple of years ago and have since gifted and recommended it to several friends all over the country and we all think it’s an incredible beverage. My only caution is not to drink an entire pint in 10 minutes on a completely empty stomach, it might roll your head a little bit
Whynot,
Glad to hear you gave Dragon’s Milk a go. It’s a special brew and has converted many. Also appreciate your cautionary tale – probably decent advice for any beer
Happy New Beer,
Emily
Emily,
You seem very knowledgeable and resourceful in the realm of Dragon’s Milk. Maybe you can provide some good news for me. Recently got married in the Richmond, VA area and had the pleasure of trying this awesome ale for the first time at Capital Ale Restaurant. Problem is, I currently live in Central Texas soon to be relocated to Sacramento, CA serving in the Air Force. Is there any chance in hell you or your distributors ship to individuals or liquor depots on the west coast? And if there is no way that could happen, do you guys ever travel and take part in any of the gigantic annual beer festivals that occur on or near the western sea board? Tell me you have any glimmer of hope for a new Dragon’s Milk junkie, Emily….Please!!!
~Cheers
Hi there Parker (a.k.a. Dragon’s Milk Junkie),
Well, what I lack in knowledge, I definitely do make up for in resourcefulness! I think I might have some good news to share.
I checked in with our Sales Manager, Joel, and he said that you should check in with Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville, NC. They ship beer and carry Dragon’s Milk. They cannot ship to Texas, but they can ship to Sacramento! Here’s a link to their site:
http://www.bruisin-ales.com/shipping.php
Jason and Julie over at Bruisin’ Ales are awesome and great supporters of New Holland. I hope this hooks you up with some Dragon’s Milk in the very near future.
Also, a big thanks from the whole New Holland Crew for serving in the Air Force and giving up so much to keep us safe.
Big cheers your way,
Emily
Just picked up some Dragon’s Milk and when I got home I noticed that the bottles I just purchased say “bourbon barrel stout” rather than “ale aged in oak barrels”
What’s the story?
Crazy amazing. My boss told me about this stuff and it’s actually 15 bucks for a 4 pack here in Wisconsin. I only know of one place to get it, but it’s sooo freakin tasty that I will pay that to get it.
Thing is, the first time I tried it, I wasn’t prepared for it, it was good, but it wasn’t great. I bought another 4 pack that night and had one the next day. For whatever reason, my palette must have matured from the crap I was drinking and it was basically like heaven in a glass. I took a drink and looked at it like, “how can you be so good”. Over and over, I would drink it and the same thoughts would fester in the head… “Good lord that is tasty”…
Folks, there is no better beer in the United States. These guys have brewed perfection. Those that drink domestic pilsners make me chuckle. Freakin amateurs!
Joe,
We’re glad to hear you gave Dragon’s Milk the second sip – it’s a favorite around here and we’re glad so many good people are enjoying it.
Thanks for sharing the love!
Cheers!
Emily
I have a New Holland Dragons Milk bomber thats silk screened (like the picture on beeradvocate) but it doesn’t have a vintage date like the 2012 bomber I have that has a paper label. My question is what year did New Holland switch to paper labels?
Hi there!
I’m confirming with our Production guys, but it was right around 2009. I’ll get that confirmed and shoot you a note!
Cheers!
Emily
I confirmed with our productions guys – the last screen printed bottles were done in 2009. We started labeling in 2010.
Whew! I feel like Nancy Drew over here! Glad we got to the bottom of that!
Cheers!
Emily
I had my first taste of Dragons Milk this weekend at The Hard Rock – Four Winds…. Trust me when I say it will not be my last taste.
Hi Tony,
Just replied to your FB comment too! Thanks again for the kind words. It is an absolute favorite of mine – my fridge is probably a little too overrun with Dragon’s Milk bottles right now.
Enjoy!
Emily
Gah! I wish I could find this out here in CA. I want to try it so bad.
Hi Tyler,
We might have a hook up for you – check out Bruisin’ Ales – looks like they a.) Have Dragon’s Milk in stock and b.) ship to CA.
http://www.bruisin-ales.com/beer_m-s.php
Fingers crossed this makes it to you soon!
Cheers!
Emily
HI PETOSKEY MI IS RUNNING OUT OF DRAGONS MILK. COULD YOU SHIP SOME MORE UP TO GRIFFIN DISTRIBUTOR SO THE STORES CAN GET RESTOCKED?
GLENS OLSENS ARE ALL OUT:) PLEASE THANK YOU
Hi Daniel!
We hate the idea of a Dragon’s Milk shortage. I’ll pass on the message to our sales team, though normally distributors place their orders with us based on their projections. Let’s see if we can’t get some product moving your way!
Cheers,
Emily
Is Dragons Milk filtered or unfiltered?
Luke,
Just got word back from our Woodmaster Tim Faith – he has this to say…
“Dragon’s Milk goes through a 4 filtration step process. Where some breweries use pasteurization as the final step we use a sterile filter to physically remove any microbes that could have been in the wood, and thus the beer. Our filtration is also what gives Dragon’s Milk its extreme drinkability with no sacrifice to flavor.”
Hope that answers your question! Enjoy your Dragon’s Milk!
Cheers,
Emily
Had Dragon’s Milk downtown Chicago this past week and loved it, any way I can get it in Iowa??
Hi Gina!
So glad to hear you enjoyed your first Dragon’s Milk! While we can’t ship beer – there is a fantastic company, Bruisin’ Ales that will ship to most states and after a quick look – seems like Iowa is within their powers.
Here’s the link (you’ll find DM under “N” for New Holland)
http://www.bruisin-ales.com/shipping.php
Cheers!

We recently moved from North Carolina to Alabama, and one of the things I miss most is the ability to get Dragon’s Milk easily at our local beer store… It truly is the best beer I have ever tasted, and is a treat for my husband and I. New Holland, thank you for always having such incredible quality, for anyone who has not yet tried the Dragon’s Milk, or is has tried Dragon’s Milk and wants a good whiskey, you cannot go wrong with these oak aged beauties at New Holland!
Wow! What a great endorsement, Emily. Thanks.
If you’re desperate and just HAVE to have some Dragon’s Milk. Or even just because it’s a Wednesday and you know you deserve one – we do have one online distributor who can ship to most states (including Alabama). You can check them out online – they’re great supporters of New Holland and provide a great service.

Had my first DM at the Fiddler’s Hearth in South Bend recently. It was amazing! Do you distribute to anyone in the Cleveland Area?
Hi Lance,
Always excited when someone falls in love with the Dragon. We do distribute in the Cleveland area. The easiest way would be for you to type in your zip code to our Beer and Spirits finder and you can search by retailer or bar/restaurant (or both). If you’re missing one close to you, we also have a distributor who ships. Here’s the info:
Finder: http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/
Distributor: http://www.bruisin-ales.com/
Cheers!
Emily
As almost an entirely stout beer drinker, dragon’s milk is at the top of my list along with st peters cream stout. I have moved this into my top three choices, and would honestly recommend it to anyone. I wanted to say thank you for taking the extra attention to detail to create something truly special in the beer world.
Thanks so much for taking the time to shoot us a note. A lot of time and care goes into our beer and it’s always great when exactly the right one finds exactly the right person. Glad you’re enjoying the beer, hope it’s finding its way into some of your life’s moments!
Cheers!
Emily
Tried it for the first time ,LOVE IT but are going to make more.
Hi Katie,
So glad to hear you enjoyed your first Dragon’s Milk. It’s a special brew, that’s for sure. It’s actually a year round brand for us, so it’s available any time your heart desires. If you’re looking for it near you, you can use our Beer & Spirits Finder to get your hands on more!
