I’d like to get my hands on your business people and strangle them. You have the best damn product and in simple terms demand exceeds supply. More than half the time the places that I want to buy it say they can’t get it. I have threatened to burn their stores. Seriously, why can’t you brew more Dragon’s Milk?
Dave – We’re pretty good sports around here, but you may want to reconsider your approach to providing customer feedback. Threatening to strangle us because as you say, “demand exceeds supply” is a bit extreme. I’ll respond as best as I can, but know that any additional comments with threatening, demeaning or vulgar language will be removed, simply to keep things professional.
On to Dragon’s Milk. We doubled our production in 2011 from 2010, and most markets including yours in Milwaukee, have seen incredible growth, well beyond forecast. Dragon’s Milk is aged in bourbon barrels for 90 days, which requires time, space and investment, all of which we’ve increased to a great degree.
In short, we’re making as much as we can, and built a 6,000 square foot, refrigerated cellar to provide for doubling in 2012 and again in 2013. It’s a difficult beer to make, and we’re proud that so many people like it.
Hopefully you an appreciate that while many brewers offer barrel aged beers as a once a year release, we’ve committed considerable resources to making Dragon’s Milk a year-round, core brand across our entire market area.
We’ll continue to make more as long as people continue to demand it, so hopefully it will be easier for you to find it.
Cheers -
*Also – don’t be surprised if we move this discussion over to Dragon’s MIlk, a more appropriate spot for the post.
Simply put, I’ve never had a New Holland Brew I did not like. While I prefer stouts to anything else, the Char Rye and el Mole Ocho where superb. First I enjoyed The Poet…then Night Tripper…then I had Dragons Milk…this is by far the best beer I’ve ever had. Though I’ve noticed in the last two or three months that it has more of a bourbon flavored dominance. Did anything change in the recipe or brew process? Either way it’s still great. (I guess I can kinda understand the previous gentleman’s frustration with not being able to find it.
)
Keep up the great work!
Hey Ty!
Thanks so much for the compliments! Our Dragon’s Milk is the same as normal, aged for 30 days on 1st and 2nd use whiskey barrels. Perhaps the whiskey flavor was a bit heavier because the distillery did not empty the barrel all the way through, and there was a bit more whiskey? Also, ones palette may change based on what you ate recently, etc. Those are my only thoughts, but no, the recipe did not change. Thanks for reaching out and have a great weekend!
Thank you for such a fine brew. Is there any looks on expanding the distribution of this great product into say, Iowa?
Hi, John.
Thank you for your support of New Holland brews. While we are slowly, but surely expanding the markets to which we reach, right now, Iowa is not in the near future. With that said, there are distributors throughout the country that ship our product. You may know of a national distributor, but one we often recommend is Binny’s out of the Chicago area. Here’s their website so you can reach out and see if they deliver the product you’re looking for. http://www.binnys.com/ Cheers!
Hi, John.
After a second look, I see that we are located in the east part of the state! You can use our online product finder (http://newhollandbrew.com/finder/) to search by product and location type. I did a search within 50 miles of Davenport and had some luck. So, in case you’re in those areas, you’re in luck too! Hope this helps. Cheers!
Hey guys and gals! Love your beer, or at least the varieties I have had, which are the Mad Hatter series. I especially love the White Hatter and the Farmhouse Hatter. I got to try them for the first time when I was home for the summer in Philadelphia, but now I’m back to school in South East Iowa and I’m wondering if ya’ll will ever ship your delicious product this way so I can get it at my local Hyvee. Do you as a company see this expansion of distribution happening anytime soon??? Oh please I hope….
Hi, Zach! Glad to hear from you and always love meeting new Hatter fans! We are not yet distributing in Iowa, and don’t yet have distribution plans for the state on the near horizon, but I will make sure your request is known as we look to future markets! We also are unable to ship our product, but you may be in luck as we do distribute to your neighbor – Illinois. You can contact distributors in that state, such as Koerner Distribution (www.koernerdistributor.com) or Marketplace Selections (www.marketplaceselections.com). They may be able to hook you up. Or, you can try a national distributors, such as Binny’s out of the Chicago area – they often ship their products. Worth a call to find out. Or, if you’re on a road trip through Illinois or Indiana, you can find where we’re located using our online product finder (http://newhollandbrew.com/finder). I hope this helps. Thanks for your support of NHBC! Cheers!
I recently moved from Kalamazoo, Michigan to Loveland, Colorado, My boy friend LOVES your brews, Especially Dragons Milk, It would be so awesome if we could enjoy that delicious drink more than once a year. Are you ever going to expand your distribution further west? Personally I think it would be a fantastic idea. Thanks…
Hi, Tonia.
Thanks for the note and your support of New Holland! We are always looking into new markets for expansion. I will be sure to pass along your Colorado wish to our planning team. With that said, you are also able to try a national distributor, such as Binny’s, as they may be able to ship our product to you. (Always best to check with them prior to ordering.)
Thanks again for your support of New Holland!
Cheers,
Megan
Hey guys, I tried your Walleye Rye several months ago, and I am having a really hard time tracking any more down. Are you still producing more? Any tips on finding it in either Illinois or Michigan? Your spirits finder keeps returning no results. Thanks!
Hi, Graham.
Thank you for your inquiry and support of New Holland Artisan Spirits.
Walleye Rye Brewers’ Whiskey is out of production for this year, but it will release again in Summer 2013. You’ll be good and ready for a glass by then!
Hope this helps, cheers!
Megan
I have had difficulty finding your spirits in Illinois stores. I did track down The Hopquila (creative and delicious) at Binny’s but no luck with the Zeppelin. Are any of the Brewers’ Whiskeys available out here? The Knickerbocker?
In a world filled with craft brewers making some really great stuff, you stand out, both in beers and spirits. The Zeppelin is the closest thing to a candy bar (toffee!) I’ve ever tasted in a whiskey and I’ve had more than a few. Keep up the strong work, you are doing wonderful things.
Hi, Philip.
Thank you for your question and for your kinds words. As you know, Brewers’ Whiskey is a very popular, and very limited, product. We are currently out of stock of product this year, but a new batch will be available this spring. We’ll keep you posted!
As for Knickerbocker, that should be more readily available. Keep checking our online product finder as when a store/bar places an order, it is updated immediately. http://newhollandbrew.com/finder
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers!
I hope this question is an easy one… How far out will your Dragon’s Milk Bourbon be distributed to liguor stores? I live in Wisconsin but travel to Chicago’s where Binny’s reign supreme. I realize it was just released on the 1st, wasn’t sure how soon it was being sent to stores.
Great product!!
Keep up the good work!!
Matt
Hi, Matthew.
Thank you for your comment. Beer Barrel Bourbon will be distributed in all states in which we currently sell our spirits (MI, IL, IN, WI, MN, MO, KY, NY, GA, NJ). You can see where in Wisconsin specifically, using our online product finder: http://newhollandbrew.com/finder
If you have any other questions, please let me know. Cheers!
I received a bottle of Dragon’s Milk as a Christmas gift from a co-worker that is a beer aficionado and am enjoying it this evening. I have never sipped a finer brew. The food pairings recommended are excellent and I am already planning a dinner menu to accompany this fine stout. Simply amazing.
That sounds like a good friend you have there! If you need some pairing ideas for your menu, we’d be happy to help! I’ve had it with both cheese and dessert and it’s delicious. Also just had someone recommend (Root) Beer Floats with Dragon’s Milk and Dulche de Leche ice cream. Yum.
Cheers!

Please get a Kansas City Distributor. I tried Dragon’s Milk while in Chicago, fantastic, but not available anywhere near my home in Lenexa, KS.
Kelly,
Thanks so much for the message. Can’t say exactly when we’ll be distributing in Kansas, however…
We do have one online distributor who can ship our products – http://www.bruisin-ales.com/shipping.php
You will find Dragon’s Milk under “N” for New Holland. Think of it – Dragon’s Milk delivers straight to your door – sounds like a dream!
Hope you’ll have some in your hot little hands soon!
Cheers,
Emily
Does anyone know the names of some places that sell Dragon’s Milk in the Dayton, Ohio area? This would be around zip code 45430. There are places that sell it online but I’d rather get it from a local business if at all possible.
Thanks.
Hi Dan,
Looks like there are plenty of retailers in your area – I’m sending you the link to our Beer & Spirits Finder – Just pop in your zip and the product and you’ll get a full listing.

Love that you’re keeping it local when possible!
Cheers!
