Challenge Mountain is located near Walloon Lake in northern Michigan. It is the nation’s only non-profit organization that provides adaptive recreation exclusive to the developmentally challenged, helping them achieve their maximum potential through outdoor theraputic recreation. Various programs offered are designed to build confidence, self-esteem, create dignity, instill caring among peers, provide joy, build strength and independence.
Challenge Mountain is volunteer driven, and 100% of every donated dollar goes directly to programs.
Michigan’s Culinary Industry put its best foot forward at the 1st Annual Chef’s Challenge for Challenge Mountain event. Chef Teams from Northern and Southern Michigan presented our great Agricultural diversity at it’s succulent finest, complimented by fine Michigan wines and micro-brews.
This year New Holland will feature Mad Hatter IPA, Full Circle Kolsch, Sundog Amber Ale and The Poet Oatmeal Stout.
We will also give you a chance to sample two of our artisan spirits; Knickerbocker Gin and Michigan Amber Rum.

During the afternoon tasting, Wine Sommelier Amanda Danielson from the acclaimed Trattoria Stella Restaurant in Traverse City will be available to discuss and recommend wine pairings with the various food samplings. Also from Trattoria Stella, Jon Ingham, a beer critic of long standing who has taught beer and cocktail pairings will discuss our excellent Michigan micro-brews and how they compliment various tastings.
