Summer Reggae Fest 2010 (66 E. 8th St. Holland, MI)

Jul 17, 2010 - 5pm-1am - Pub Events

Our annual Summer Reggae Fest will kick off at 5pm with our fresh grilled Beachside Steamed Shrimp followed by this year’s headliner and national sensation, Roots of Creation rockin' da beats from 10pm-1am!

In the early1960’s, in the slums of Kingston Jamaica, local drummers mixed sounds from American R&B, Pan-African, and the Caribbean’s to produce a musical mixture called Reggae. Bob Marley and other positively based performers share One Love, a mission of spreading a life affirming, compassionate and all encompassing world view.

Come celebrate the mission of Reggae music, good beer and good food with us at the pub. Along with danceable dub tunes, we will also be featuring our Rasta Raz Punch, Zoomer wheat ale and a fresh grilled dinner special cooked to order out on our back patio.

*Our dinner special for the evening will feature our Freshwater Rum Series:
Beachside Steamed Shrimp:
Tomato, onion, scallions, allspice, Scotch Bonnet pepper, potatoes and sweet corn steamed with Huron Rum and coconut milk. Paired with Rasta Raz Punch.

Band Bio:

Roots of Creation is bolstered by a sense of it's own colorful history and urged onward by the promise of a fruitful future. Approaching their 4th year of full-time touring, Roots of Creation has evolved into a musical force of nature. Besides recently signing with a record label, Roots of Creation has many other achievements including a nomination for Best World Music Act at the Boston Music Awards. The band has recently found themselves in high-class musical company as they shared stages and audiences with artists such as chart-topping rapper Lupe Fiasco, reggae legends like Culture, The Wailers, Israel Vibration, Pato Banton, Toots, and Yellowman, plus well-known acts from all over the musical map such as Matisyahu, Slightly Stoopid, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Melvin Sparks.
