Our 11th Annual Autumnfest is September 20th at the New Holland pub in downtown Holland, Michigan. The event showcases our love of the harvest season and coincides with our annual release of Ichabod Pumpkin Ale.
We'll have Ichabod drink specials, including cask drawn Ichabod. The menu will include grilled chicken and Fall favorite side dishes. Grab a ride on the famous bike-n-bar. Live music for the weekend will be provided by The Lynn Thompson Band, Natchez Trace, The Niche, Robin Moore and Whitey Morgan.
Live bands on Friday the 19th will be The Niche from 5pm-8pm and The Lynn Thompson Band from 9pm-12 am.
The $7 cover for Saturday evening begins at 3 p.m. and includes a commemorative pint glass.
At 3pm we will have the "Beer and Cheese Smackdown II" with Beervangelist Fred Bueltmann and Brewmaster John Haggerty. Fred and John will pair New Holland beers with 6 select cheeses. You get to decide who's pairing is best and crown the winner. The cost for this event is $15 per person.
At 5pm we will offer a tasting of New Holland's latest artisan spirits. New Holland President Brett VanderKamp will guide you through the line up of "Zeppelin Bend" whiskey, "Knickerbocker" gin and our three "Freshwater" rums; "Huron", "Michigan" and "Superior". The cost for this event is also $15 per person or you can purchase tickets for both events for $25 per person.
Live music will begin at 3pm on Saturday with Nachez Trace playing on the back patio until 6pm. The outdoor music will continue at 7pm with Robin Moore & the Northstars. The music will move inside at 10pm with Whitey Morgan & the 78's.

On Saturday, September 20th over 100 different types of beer will quench the taste buds of every die-hard beer drinker. From 7:00 – 10:00 pm patrons will receive sampling tickets, each good for a taste of their favorite beer, and the first 1,000 people will receive a commemorative sampling glass.

Twenty-Five employees at New Holland Brewing Company in Holland have recently been awarded "Certified Beer Server" status. This endorsement is the first in a the three-phase Cicerone Certification Program.
To help celebrate this accomplishment, New Holland has invited Daniels to host a day of Cicerone activities including seminars and a beer dinner.
The day kicks off at Noon with Brewhouse Tours of New Holland's 23,000-square-foot production facility with brewmaster, John Haggerty.
An "Introduction to Cicerone" will be offered from 1-2pm. During this session, one will learn the basics of how to become a Certified Beer Server.
From 3-4pm, it's "Preparing for the Certified Cicerone Exam," where Ray discusses and reviews the topics included on the advanced exam.
There is no charge for the seminars, but reservations are required by logging onto http://signup.newhollandbrew.com or by calling 616-510-2259. Space is limited to 20 individuals.
Later than evening, a New Holland Beer Cicerone Dinner will be held at the acclaimed Journeyman Café in Fennville. This dinner accentuates the marriage of beer's flavors with local, hand-made cuisine. An additional 25 seats are open to the public, at $65 each.
The evening features pairings and discussions by Ray Daniels, restaurant owners Amy Cook & Chef Matt Millar, and several New Holland representatives including Brett VanderKamp, founder; John Haggerty, brewmaster; and Fred Bueltmann, beervangelist.
The evening kicks off with a reception featuring parmesan gourgeres with Kathy Halinsky chevre & chive and salt cod, garlic & Binje potato fritters, paired with Full Circle.
The main entrees include shelfish ragout with Boeve Farm leeks, lemon thyme and sweet cream, paired with Golden Cap; Pumpkin agnolotti in parmesan broth with pumpkin seeds, brown butter, sage & Styrian pumpkin seed oil, paired with Ichabod; and blackberry glazed breast of smoked magret duck with braised lacinato kale & caramelized shallots and duck liver & balsamic vinaigrette, paired with Blue Sunday.
The dessert flight features deluche de leche custard with muscavado caramel, paired with Pilgrim's Dole; tobacco chocolate truffle, paired with Dragon's Milk; fall berries with vanilla bean panna cotta, paired with Black Tulip; and goredawnzola blue cheese with Hasselman's honeycomb, paired with Existential.

An All Day Farm Party @ Red Horse Ranch in Fennville, Michigan. Local restaurateurs, Journeyman & Rye have joined forces with the folks at New Holland Brewing Company, Red Horse Ranch and Fenn Valley Winery to host an all-day farm party & harvest celebration on October 4th. The event will feature live music from local artists, local pork & produce, local beers and local wine. Admission is being sold “by the carload” in conjunction with the groups eco-friendly slogan, “Save Gas, Eat Pork.” A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance.
The collaborators behind Porkapalooza share common ground in their pursuit of quality and their belief in championing local, sustainable lifestyles. The event will shine a light on some of the areas treasures, including not only the products available, but the creative energy of many local artisans and musicians. Hosting a 800 plus people event while sticking to earth-friendly ideals will showcase some of the realities around sustainable living. The Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance is a not-for-profit benefactor as well as a mentor for the event, adding volunteers and expertise to an already green-minded effort.
The event takes place at Red Horse Ranch, a rolling 14 acre retreat just outside of downtown Fennville. Red Horse Ranch is located on 62nd Street, just South of 122nd Ave.
Admission: Parking pass-admission includes entrance to the event for all passengers, and all the live music you can soak up; food and drink are sold separately. Admission is $25 per carload in advance and $40 day of. $10 per walk or ride up.
Food: There will be delicious menu items served all day long, such as pulled pork, homemade sausage, corn on the cob, BBQ Tofu and fresh home-made sides. In addition the talented pit crew, led by Journeyman Chef, Matthew Millar will demonstrate traditional and innovative techniques leading up to three feature presentations; The American Smokehouse at 2 pm, Luau Pig at 5 pm and La Caja China at 8 pm. Portions of the feature presentations are limited and may be purchased in advance.
2 pm : American Smokehouse: Earlier in the week, Chef Millar will teach how to build a smokehouse, by of course, building an on-site smokehouse. At Porkapalooza, he will feature a collection of foods that showcase the subtleties of slow-cooking in a traditional smokehouse.
5 pm: Luau Pig: Inspired by the Hawaiian tradition, a big is buried in a pit of hot stones. Served with traditional sweet & sour sweet potatoes.
8 pm: La Caja China: “Pig in a Coffin” is a Cuban preparation, roasting the pig inside a wooden box. Served with traditional sides.

Join New Holland for the 9th annual Mid-Atlantic Oktoberfest. There will be 30+ breweries giving out 4oz samples as well as local food vendors. Throughout the event there will be an Authentic German band as well as authentic Oktoberfest food. New this year the Shirlington library will have kid’s events in front of their new location. The event costs $25 if you want to sample the beer, but is free to everyone else who wants to attend. Oktoberfest 2008 will be held from Noon-7pm rain or shine, so please save the date. Cheers!

These breweries are arranged on the festival floor by regions of the country, giving beer lovers a walking tour of the nation's beer-blessed landscape. Many of the booths are staffed by the brewers themselves. More than 46,000 beer enthusiasts from Colorado, the United States, and around the world will attend this year's GABF. The 2008 GABF will cover 188,000 square feet of the Colorado Convention Center.
The GABF also hosts one of the world's largest and most prestigious tasting competitions. Over 100 professional beer judges from the United States and abroad evaluated over 2,800 beers are expected to be entered by more than 470 domestic breweries. Gold, silver and bronze medals in 75 beer-style categories will be awarded on October 11 at the 1:30 p.m. awards ceremony held during the Members-Only Tasting Session.
The GABF's popular food & beer pairing seminars featuring an A-list of America's brewers joined local and national celebrity chefs for demonstrations on how to cook with beer and pair different styles of beer with various dishes.
