About
About Me:
I have lived in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA for my whole life and as it turns out, it’s a pretty ideal place to be if you like good beer. After 4 years of college I bounced around a couple of jobs and began to learn as much about craft beer as I could. Working in a bar was probably the best thing I could have ever done with my life. I learned so much about life, business, responsibility, and the meaning of service. Much of what I know about the world I learned behind the bar. I’ve maintained a beer blog for upwards of a year that led to holding my own tastings and getting a little snappier with photography, which is a hobby of mine.
I make my own beer when I’ve got enough time to do so and I love to cook with beer or find great beer pairings. I’m a big supporter of the Buy Fresh, Buy Local campaign and love the quality of fruits, vegetables, and meats that are available from hard working folks who are dedicated to sustaining the parts of our lands not covered by concrete.
I’ve gotten asked a lot how I got the job with New Holland and I keep telling people that it was an accident. For the most part that’s true. I was looking up The Poet on the website and just happened to notice the Career Opportunity button. If I’d been looking up another beer this whole thing never would have happened. So now I’m in 6 states selling New Holland beer and meeting people who own, run, and patronize some of America’s greatest bars, restaurants, and beer shops. I’m learning from some of the best people in the business and feel really lucky to have such great people a call or email away.
Favorite Beer:
I don’t think it’s too easy to pin down one New Holland beer as a favorite…how could you decide between Poet, Dragon’s Milk, and Mad Hatter? Night Tripper is one of the best Imperial Stouts I’ve ever tasted and I don’t know if I can hold out until Fat Tuesday to see more.
Favorite Moment at NHBC:
Although it seems early in the running to start picking out favorite memories, I’d have to say every moment of Autumnfest ’08 was pretty memorable (even the parts I can’t remember). At the forefront would be the moment where it became apparent that people were passing out in my hotel beds while I was in the lobby making burritos. Vander’s victory lap at the pizza place down the street that would ‘never sell New Holland’ was also pretty funny.
