NHBC welcomes new floor manager Kenton Hancock! Kenton is in charge of overseeing day to day operations at the Pub and is responsible for creating an environment where the staff can succeed. Kenton talks about his interest in the craft brewing industry saying, “I fell in love with the craft brewing industry right around the time I turned 21. I was already a big fan of high end coffee and tea and the complex flavor profiles that they bring. So Craft beer was the first step in the long road of deliciousness. ” He worked at Brewery Vivant during their first year of operations and loved the atmosphere. Kenton coins his personable attitude and love to turn someone’s day around as two qualities that will help him succeed at New Holland. He also says, “I am an emphatic beverage enthusiast. I love loose leaf tea, good coffee, single malt scotch, Cognac, Wine, and of course Craft Beer. It is my goal to gain cicerone certification and eventually tea sommelier. Other then my snobbage in drinks I also do graphic design.”
Kenton grew up in Belleville, Michigan but has also lived in Saline and Allendale where he started a degree in Nursing at GVSU, of which he adds, “Didn’t really work out did it!” After having lived many different places Kenton decided that “home is where you cook. Friends, family, and food are probably the most important things in my life. There is something about a good meal that brings people together.” Kenton is also an avid gamer and empathetic reader. He adds, “I also love to work out, homebrew and cook.”

1. I make weird sounds that demonstrate my current emotions or portray an action that I am explaining.
2. I randomly use Star Wars references to explain life occurrences.
3. I am a megaphone closet nerd. I am proud of my nerd past present and future and the culture that has made me who I am today. However, I do not like physically displaying it with t-shirts, hats, etc. unless they are subtle and someone would have to look closely or be as nerdy as me to figure it out. However, if anyone asks I would probably proclaim who and what I am!
