As of early 2011, the Pub Brewer position is scheduled to rotate among brewers that currently work at our production facility on the north side of town. The Pub Brewer is responsible for creating specialty pub brews- beer only available on tap at the pub. Click here to view our current specialty brews available on tap.
Currently, Dan Heisler is fulfilling the pub brewer position. When asked what he is looking forward to most about the temporary position, Dan says he is looking forward to the opportunity to brew creativly and receive feedback on the beers he makes. One of the challenges Dan anticipates during his run as pub brewer, is to be able to create new and exciting beers that will challenge customers concepts of beer, and thrill their tastebuds. We asked Dan what was on deck as far as new pub brews, he said, “Warm and richly flavored styles for the fall season.” Sounds good to us!
Originally from Holland, Dan moved out west for about ten years. He started at NHB in March, moving from Salt Lake City and the Bohemian Brewery. “NHB was much more competitive in the marketplace of brewing jobs. Definately in part, due to the opportunity to brew creatively at the pub,” said Dan. “I am passionate to be consistent in production. The challenge with that is to work every day with that passion as a focus.”
Dan enjoys drinking just about any kind of beer. His favorites change with the day. One of his NHB favorites is Golden Cap Saison. While working at the pub, the brewers get lunch every day, we often see Dan enjoying our Black and Blue Salad. We asked Dan if he couldn’t be a brewer for NHB, what position would be his second choice? To which he replied, “I’d make a lovely spokesmodel.” We will keep that in mind!
Dan attended Hope College University and has a BFA in Painting. In his spare time, he continues to paint and loves to ride his bike. He also loves hockey season and the Red Wings. We asked Dan about his long term goals, he replied, “Long term- I’m excited to build and grow with NHB and settle back into Michigan again. Go Red Wings!”
Cheers,
NHBC
