Gabrial James @ “BeerBQ Fridays” on the deck on 08/03/12

Beer-B-Q’s will be happening rain or shine every Friday through the summer from 5-8pm. There will be different dinner specials cooked out on the grill each week.

For your listening pleasure this week, we have Gabrial James!

Gabrial James Lundy, performing under the moniker Gabrial James, is a singer/songwriter from Grand Rapids, MI. He has been playing the guitar since the age of fourteen and singing since the age of eight. His father Charles Robert taught him how to play the guitar, and had his formal vocal training in the Saint Cecilia Music Society Chorale from 1985-1989.

Gabrial started writing songs at the age… of sixteen with Corduroy Kelley, his very first band, which was heavily influenced by the early 90′s shoegaze bands like Catherine Wheel, Ride, Swervedriver, Slowdive, and Lush. The band went their separate ways and Gabrial went back to his acoustic roots and started to hit the local open mic circuits heavily.

In the summer of 2003, Gabrial was invited to be the host/emcee of the acoustic open mic showcase at Billy’s Lounge in Eastown. For seven fulfilling years he was the host of Grand Rapids’ biggest open mic night in Grand Rapids, with loads and loads of talent coming through locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.

When playing live, James is accompanied by his long time friend Steph Carranco on violin.

Gabrial has a smooth, acoustic folky style with tight guitar rhythms and an unforgettable vocal range that spans the spectrum. You will haer several genres in his music including folk, americana, alternative, and bluegrass.
