Beer-B-Q’s will be happening rain or shine every Friday through the summer from 5-8pm. There will be different dinner specials cooked out on the grill each week.
For your listening pleasure this week, we have Matt Gabriel!
In less than one years time, The Matt Gabriel Trio has been written up in Recoil Magazine, been interviewed live on lovely local WYCE Radio, and played their native state of Michigan from Top to Bottom. Working on a follow up record to their first album “People and Places” at the moment, “The Thief” is an honest blend of Folk and Blues with a solid Rock and Roll center. The exact quality of music you would expect from 3 boys who grew up between Chicago and Detroit. A must see live show with a very approchable recorded sound. It’s music you can trust and believe in.
Born and raised in Grand Rapids Michigan, 23 year old Matt Gabriel has been playing shows on stage for 9 years now. The last 4 of those years, all over the country. From the noisy jazz bars in the deep south of Louisiana to the singer/songwriter coffee shops of Seattle Washington. “It’s been a privilege the entire way” says Gabriel. “I cant wait to see where I’ll end up playing next”. Regardless of where he goes next, his upbeat acoustic style will brighten up whatever corner of the world it’s played in. He’s just released the fallow up to his first album “Embrace the Change” (2009) with his Sophomore record “People and Places”. The progression of his ability to blend inspiring lyrics with paralyzing hooks has shown over the course of the two years between the two albums. “I just disappeared into the mountains for a 8 months, and came back with this record. The title says it all.” It’s obvious that there has been a lot of growth artistically in this young writer and he shows no sign of stopping. “I’m only picking up speed” he says with a smile.
